Camea completed her Bachelor of Social Science majoring in Psychology and Human Development at The University of Waikato in New Zealand, and her Bachelor of Science in Psychology Honours at the University of Southern Queensland. She is currently completing her psychology internship to gain her general registration as a psychologist. Camea has also trained and worked as a play and filial therapist over the last 7 years and is a member of the Association for Play Therapy (APT).
Camea is passionate about supporting clients to improve their quality of life and achieve their goals. She works with clients across the lifespan, with particular interest and experience with children affected by neurological or post trauma developmental challenges.
Camea’s therapy is informed by therapeutic approaches such as person centred and strengths based models, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with adaptations to meet the needs of individuals with ID, ADHD, ASD and other developmental challenges, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Child Centred Play Therapy (CCPT), and attachment based therapy. She also includes social ecological theory in her work, where an individual’s family, community and other environmental factors are taken into account during their therapy.
