Laura completed her Bachelor of Science majoring in Psychology and Bachelor of Psychology Honours at the University of Southern QLD. She is currently completing a Masters in Professional Psychology and provisional psychology internship to gain her general registration as a psychologist. Laura has worked in the child, families and communities sector for the last seven years across varied government and non-government roles.
Laura is trained in the Mandel Safe and Together Framework and has a passion for working with domestic violence survivors and families impacted by trauma. Laura has also attended training by Ursula Benstead on the Shark Cage Framework, an adapted CBT model for counselling in the domestic and family violence space.
Laura was also a Registered Nurse and has worked in clinical, aged care, rural/remote and Indigenous communities for the past 19 years. With a passion for the promotion of healthy relationships and a keen interest in the interplay between physical and mental health, Laura uses a strengths based, relational approach, easily developing a strong therapeutic alliance with her clients.
Laura has a non-judgmental, respectful and compassionate approach. She enjoys helping clients to rediscover their existing strengths and leveraging from these to improve mental and emotional well-being.
